EYFS

Welcome to Acorn Class

Mrs Sanford is our teacher. Miss Pinchen, Mr Alexander and Miss Wheeler support us with our learning.

At 8.45am, please bring your child to the EYFS outdoor area.  EYFS staff will meet you here to welcome your child into the classroom.  At 3:15pm, you will collect your child from the EYFS outdoor area.

Our PE days are Wednesdays and Thursdays. Pupils will be expected to attend the Academy in their Academy PE kit on these days.

To find out what we are learning this year please visit the 'Our Curriculum' page. Here you will find a list of the subjects taught at the school. By clicking on each subject there will be a Long Term Plan at the bottom of each page, which shows what your child will learn in each year group.

Extended Learning is available on our Google Classroom on a Friday.  You will find activities to carry out at home, linking to the learning in class. This may take the form of teaching videos for the children to consolidate their learning.  Phonic videos allow the children to review previously taught sounds and practise reading new words.  There will be fun online games and creative work for the children to enjoy at home. The children will not be expected to return this work.

We will consider remote learning for pupils that test positive for COVID-19 however are well enough to learn but are following advice to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for three days.

The EYFS Framework

The Early Years Class and the Nursery will both be following the statutory framework.  There are seven areas of learning and development that must shape educational programmes in early years settings.  All areas of learning and development are important and inter-connected.  There are three prime areas and four specific areas.

The Prime areas are:

*Communication and Language
*Physical Development
*Personal, Social and Emotional Development

The Specific areas are:

*Literacy
*Mathematics
*Understanding the World
*Expressive Arts and Design

These areas are further explained in the document below 'EYFS Educational Programmes'. If you have any questions relating to the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Sanford by emailing the admin team.
