Virtues to Live By

At St Peter and St Paul Catholic Primary Academy, our mission is:

“With Jesus at the heart, we learn, love and serve.”

Our “Virtues to Live By” help our children understand how they can live out this mission each day. Through the virtues, pupils develop the qualities and habits that enable them to grow as individuals, strengthen their relationships with others and follow the example of Jesus.

Throughout the year, we focus on a different virtue every three or four weeks. Children explore what the virtue means, recognise examples of it in Scripture, in Jesus and in others, and consider how they can demonstrate it through their own words, choices and actions.

Our virtues complement our school values of Love, Respect and Service. They support the formation of the whole child and help pupils grow spiritually, morally, socially and personally, while recognising that the virtues we develop should lead us to action in the service of others.

How We Develop and Celebrate Our Virtues

Through “Virtues to Live By”, our pupils learn that virtues are not simply qualities we talk about; they are qualities we practise. They help us become the people Jesus calls us to be and prepare us to put our faith into action through our school values and the principles of Catholic Social Teaching.
